Travelling by Vespa from Styria to Rome was far more than simply reaching an event for Helene Porta. Together with her husband and a friend, the route became part of the Vespa World Days 2026 experience. Scenic stages, sightseeing stops and shared moments turned the journey itself into something memorable.
As a REMUS brand ambassador, Helene was unmistakable on the road. Her Vespa featured a specially developed REMUS design and was equipped with the REMUS RS 2.0. The fully branded scooter attracted attention along the route and among thousands of Vespa fans in Rome.
In the interview, Helene shares the moments that stayed with her, explains how the REMUS RS 2.0 performed over more than 930 kilometres and offers practical advice for anyone planning a longer Vespa tour.

Freedom, scenery and the road to Rome

You travelled from Styria to Rome with your husband and a friend. How would you describe the journey, and which stage stayed with you most?

Freedom and adventure. Every section brought new impressions, scents and remarkable landscapes. Travelling together, leaving everyday life behind and keeping the Vespa World Days in sight made the journey truly special.

One of my strongest memories is our stop at Passo del Muraglione. Motorcyclists were sitting beneath shady trees and enjoying the cool mountain air, while temperatures in the valley were close to 40 degrees. The atmosphere was remarkable.

The route from Florence through Tuscany was equally memorable, especially the Chianti region and Val d’Orcia. Rolling hills, cypress lined roads and historic villages created scenery that looked like a painting. On the Vespa, I could experience it with all my senses.

Vespa World Days 2026 in Rome

What was your personal highlight in Rome, and when did you feel the international Vespa community most strongly?

The experience began as soon as we arrived at the Vespa Village. Vespas in every colour and model had come from many different countries. People were laughing, taking photos and talking everywhere.

Waiting with hundreds of fans before the gates opened made the sense of community especially tangible. Another unforgettable moment was the large ride out on Saturday. Thousands of Vespas travelled through Rome together, and riding past the Colosseum with crowds watching was a real goosebumps moment.

More than 930 kilometres with the REMUS RS 2.0

How did the REMUS RS 2.0 perform over the full journey, and how did the branded Vespa come across at the event?

The setup convinced me over the long distance. The riding experience was comfortable and the sporty sound had plenty of character without becoming intrusive or tiring.

The design also worked very well on the Vespa. The matt black body and gold end cap looked premium and distinctive. Together with the REMUS branding, the scooter felt cohesive and authentic. It stood out in Rome without appearing overdone.

A balanced setup for road and city

Planning the next Vespa tour

What should riders prepare before a longer tour, and what would you change next time?

Realistic route planning is essential. Daily distances should leave enough time to enjoy the ride, explore places along the way and take spontaneous breaks. Navigation apps are useful, but maps, travel reports, blogs and YouTube channels often reveal more scenic roads away from the main routes. Accommodation should be booked early, especially around major events.

Packing also needs careful planning because space is limited. We select clothing for each day, choose easy care fabrics and take only what we will actually use. Rolling clothes saves space and reduces creasing. Another practical option is to pack each day’s outfit in a separate bag, which makes hotel stops quicker and more organised.

The Vespa should also be serviced before departure and checked carefully. I would keep the overall planning, but allow more time for each stage. That would make it easier to explore sights at a relaxed pace and stop whenever something interesting appears along the route.

Five tips for your next Vespa tour

1. Prepare the Vespa carefully. Service the scooter, check tyres, brakes, fluids and wear parts, and carry basic tools and spare fuses.

2. Plan realistic daily distances. A relaxed 250 kilometres is often better than 450 under time pressure. And Leave room for spontaneous stops.Many of the best moments happen away from the original plan.

3. Research each stage. Combine navigation apps with maps, travel reports, blogs and videos to find routes beyond the main roads.

4. Book accommodation early. Rooms fill quickly around major events such as the Vespa World Days.
